Matumbi rocks Jozi

He might be forgotten back home, but Malawi’s dancehall artist Anne Matumbi is still revered across the borders. The self-styled dancehall king wowed Malawians who gathered at Equator Night Club in South-Africa on Sunday night.

Reports from Johannesburg indicate that the Lilongwe-based artist appeared on stage just before midnight and captivated the huge crowd as his old hits from Amayi to Mr President earned sing-alongs. The show, organised by Brody Mix Entertainment, was part of the commemoration of Malawi’s 48 years of independence. But DJ Tabs, one of the organisers, said it was worth more than the R50 (about K1 750) ticket.
